Welcome to the Chester Image Bank. The Image Bank is a searchable collection of several thousand digitised photographs and other historic images of Chester and the surrounding area. It includes images drawn from the collections of the Cheshire & Chester Joint Archive Service and photographs kindly loaned by members of the public.

You can search the Image Bank for historic pictures of Chester as well as for books and printed ephemera held within the collections of Chester History & Heritage.

We are always looking for historic pictures of Chester and the surrounding area to add to the Image Bank. If you have a photograph or image you would like included, please contact Chester History & Heritage. We will return the photograph to you once it has been scanned.

We welcome your comments on any of the photographs in the Image Bank, or you may wish to offer some additional information about a particular photo. You can do this online by using the ‘can you help’ facility.

The Chester Image Bank is for reference purpose only. Low resolution images may be downloaded from the site for personal use only, free of charge. High quality photographic prints may also be purchased for personal and educational use using the on-line shopping basket.
